Discount is a core feature in PayPlans which can be used by users to reduce their subscription prices in the form of applying coupon codes. Automatic discounts are also available depending on the discount usage type. But first, the site admin would have to create these discounts individually from the backend of PayPlans.
To use the discount system on PayPlans, first, activate the discount system at PayPlans > Settings > Discounts > General. Navigate to PayPlans > Discounts > Discounts which displays the list of available discounts in PayPlans. Click on the New button to create a discount.
When creating discounts, keep in mind that:
Enable the discount feature at PayPlans > Settings > Discounts > General > Enable Discounts.
Select the plans you want to allow the discount to be used on. If the discount is set to all plans, then it can be used on all plans.
You can only select one usage type. This means you have to create separate discounts if you want to set up discounts for different usage types.
Set a coupon code if available. They are case insensitive. Without this code, users will not be able to apply discounts that uses discount codes.
Advanced parameters can be quite helpful like usage limit and expiration date of discount.
Double check all parameters and make sure they are correct, for example, make sure the discount amount matches the discount type.
Usage Type
Any Conditions - It's universal discount code. Discount can applied on all the conditions i.e. Initial, Recurring Subscription, Renewal, Upgrade , Every New invoice and Subscription Extension.
Any Condition discount will be applicable for all recurring payment , not on the initial payment only. So make sure if you don't want to apply discount on each Recurring payment then use initial purchase type discount.Initial Purchase - Discount can only be applied on new subscription purchases.
Recurring Subscriptions - Discount can only be applied on recurring subscriptions and will also take effect on subsequent recurring billing.
When Renewing - Discount is automatically applied for all renewals. No coupon code required.
When Upgrading - Discount is automatically applied when upgrading a subscription. No coupon code required.
Every New Invoice - Similar to the Initial Purchase type. Only difference here is that the discount is automatically applied. No coupon code required.
Subscription Extension - Discount is automatically applied when subscription is being extended.
The following screenshot shows how discounts are displayed in the checkout page. Discounted amount will also appear on invoices.
Important Notes
- In case of Recurring payment, if you want to apply 100% discount on initial payment and further recurring payment without discount, then make sure that the payment method you are using is supported Recurring + Trial or not whether trial is free otherwise you will hit an issue regarding payment.
