Location Services Settings

There are 4 types of location integration available for EasyBlog currently; Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, Google Places and FourSquare. You may find the settings here EasyBlog > Settings > General > Location.

Displaying Map On Blogpost

To make the map appear on your blog post entry page, you'll need to enable the option Show Post Map located at EasyBlog > Settings > Views > Entry Layout.

OpenStreetMap

The location detect feature works only if HTTPS version of the site is loaded.

To use OpenStreetMap, set the Service Provider to OpenStreetMap.

Setting up API for Google Maps & Google Places

To get started, you'll need a Google Account. If you currently do not have one, you can head over to Google and sign up for one.

In order to utilize Google Maps API, Google requires all sites to support HTTPS.

As of June 11, 2018, you must enable a billing account for your Google project to avoid map request errors and gain a limited amount of free requests each month.

Google Maps

Navigate to the APIs Console located at Google Console and login to your Google Account.
You'll need to create a new project if you don't have any yet. From the left navigation menu, navigate to IAM & admin > Manage Resources and start building up your new project.
Once you have created your new project, navigate to the APIS Library and focus on the Maps section. There, you will notice a list of the available API services. For Google Maps, you will need to enable these 5 APIs:
Navigate to the Credentials section. By default, your credential will be created automatically. However, if there is none, you can create a new one. Copy the generated key and place it in EasyBlog's Location Services.

Google Places

The steps involved is identical to Google Maps.

Navigate to the APIs Console located at Google Console and login to your Google Account.
Once you've login, it will bring you to the Console Dashboard. You'll need to create a new project if you don't have any yet. Navigate to I am Admin and start building up your new project.
Once you have created your new project, navigate to the APIS Library and focus on the Maps section. For Google Places, you'll need to enable this API: Google Places API Web Service.
Navigate to the Credentials section, copy the generated key for your credentials and place it in EasyBlog's Location Services.

Key Restrictions

If you want to apply restrictions to your Google API keys, please use IP addresses type restriction as only this type is supported. If you are not sure what is your server's IP address, you may consult your webhosting provider to provide you the info.

Make sure the following APIs are not restricted in your key. In the API restrictions section, select Don't restrict key if you are not sure how this section works.

Maps Embed API
Places API - if you are using Google places service provider

FourSquare

Find great places on the go and discover what's nearby, search for what you're craving, and share location with friends.

Head over to FourSquare's site and sign up for an account if you do not have one.
Create a FourSquare app by navigating to FourSquare Developer. Click on the My Apps menu located at the top of the page. If you have not created any FourSquare app yet, click on Create a new app.
At the register new app page, enter the required information requested by FourSquare and click on the Save Changes button when ready.
You'll be presented a summary of the newly created app. Focus on the Administrative Information section, there will be a Client ID and Client Secret key being displayed. Copy both keys and place it in EasyBlog's Location Services.
