Migrating Easysocial To Different Site

Ideally, it's best that you create an export dump through phpMyAdmin and export the tables over. Here's the general guidelines that you could use.

Pre-requisite Step

  • Always backup both sites first before performing migration.
  • Migrate all users from the original site into the new site. Please make sure that all user ids on the new site is the same as the origin site.
  • Make sure that the environment for both the development and live site, meets the technical requirements before proceeding.

Migration

  1. Open up PHPMyAdmin tools that is provided by your hosting provider and navigate to your current site's database.

  2. In PHPMyAdmin export all the tables that has the prefix of #__easysocial_*. Then, download the .sql file and save it on your desktop.

  3. Checks the database prefix for the live site. If the database prefix is the same with the development site, you may skip this step. However, if the live site uses different database prefix, you'll need to edit the exported tables .sql file that you've just downloaded, and do a search and replace of the database prefix accordingly.

  4. Open your PHPMyAdmin and this time, open up your live site's database.

  5. Select the database, you should see an import link at the top. Click on that, and click on browse. Select the .sql file and click the run import button.

  6. Install the latest EasySocial on your new site :)

Make sure that the EasySocial on the origin site is having the same version of the new site. If it not, please do so.

  1. (Optional)
