After a user invites friends and family, Is there a way to see which users have come aboard via user X, Y or Z and display them in a leaderboard order assign points or super inviter badge kind of stuff?

As you found out correctly, sent invitations and accepted ones are counting points for the users and of course you can publish the CRE8 Social Leaderboard Module to a position of your choice to show that to others. It holds a mixed calculation of points and badges/achievments of your users. There also exist 2 module positions for that: es-leaderboard-before-contents and es-leaderboard-after-contents.
