Please deactivate Foundry REST API plugin and other old, outdated StackIdeas instances and retry the installation with the version 1.3.
We tested this installer successfully on Joomla 5.4+ and 6+.
Our EasySocial full installer doesn't call for a valid API key unless there are other SI-instances installed and active on your site, which try to trigger an additional launcher/download from the StackIdeas update site.
Alternatively provide login credentials to your site (private message or via email) so I will assist you to install it 😊
Hi Stephan
You cannot "update" EasySocial.
Just take the newest full installation package from your downloads-section (version 1.4, 7.12.2025) and drag/drop it onto the extensions/install area in the backend.
It doesn't require an API key, as this is not a launcher but the full-installer package.

It will upload completely, unpack and install as it should.
Best regards,
Pascal
I understand now what happened (see attachments).
There is a corrupt EasySocial installation from 2023.
A lot of remaining files are still in the key-directories of the component.
Like that, I think it won't work.
Some of these old files, I removed to test.
But there may be a lot more of them.
I guess, we must start from scratch with EasySocial.
Deleting everything (incl. DB-Tables) and do a clean fresh install... 😞
This was due to the Module "EasySocial Toolbar".
This is/was a special module, which is not included in the newer EasySocial packages anymore.
It should have been removed via maintenance script back in January 2024.
I deactivated the toolbar module on your site and everything went back to normal 😊
The all-inclusive module for all SI-extensions is the "StackIdeas Toolbar".
It has been the replacement for the EasySocial Toolbar Module.
This is/was one of the remaining files from a 2023-installation on your site, too.

I retested the full EasySocial installation on your new/test-hosting and can confirm that it all completed successfully on your restored site (from Akeeba).
No error 503 (server error) appeared.
I close this ticket as it is hosting-/a server related issue (execution time, RAM).
Thank you very much.
